No offense to The Garage Sale Mysteries, but nothing Lori Loughlin has done in movies or TV has ever been as suspenseful as this.
Everyone is on the edge of their seat to see how much prison time the (formerly?) beloved Full House actress gets for her role in the college admissions scandal.
Lori and fashion designer hubby Mossimo Giannulli are accused of paying HALF A MILLION BUCKS to unscrupulous athletics department officials at USC to pretend their daughters were on the crew team.
Aunt Becky naturally became the face of the scandal, as she and Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman were the only celebrities out of a whopping 50 arrests in what the FBI called “Operation Varsity Blues” (you cannot make this stuff up).
While Felicity may be getting away with less than a year in prison after taking full responsibility and agreeing to plead guilty, things are only getting worse for Lori.
First, she and Mossimo rejected the initial plea deal Huffman and so many others took.
We’ve heard explanations like she was
But does she really expect us to believe they don’t understand the simple concepts of bribery and lying as spelled out in the indictment? To not understand all the evidence the government has and how screwed their parents are?
You don’t exactly have to be on the fake rowing team of Harvard Law to get all that.
But the insider continued:
“Yes, she can think about the public perception of her, but that’s nothing compared to what her daughters think of her. So that is something that has understandably made her less likely to enter a plea.”
Again, the evidence is all available. If she thinks she can pretend she didn’t do anything wrong by simply not admitting guilt, she has another thing coming.
This is not the way the world works, even if the President of the United States wants to convince everyone it is.
The feds have the evidence — both parents admitted to taking part in the scheme in a phone call recorded by a government witness.
Prosecutors have already turned up the heat by adding another felony count — this time money laundering for hiding their bribe money in fake charity donations. Now Aunt Becky is looking at closer to FIVE YEARS.
If Lori and Mossimo reject another plea deal, they’re looking at a surefire guilty verdict. Then who knows how long they could spend in prison…
